Sometimes as a child, I felt unseen, unheard, unloved, and rejected. I felt like trash—discarded and used. Using reclaimed objects, I paint Found Eights. To reclaim this missing piece of myself, I came up with Found Eights.
Every once in while I’ll place an Eight somewhere in the world, wherever I feel like, whenever she needs to be found. It could be a print of a piece in the gallery, or one of the poems, or a quick little doodle on a piece of ephemera.
If you found Eight in the wild, you can speak here.
You might feel like telling what it was like to notice her. What was she saying to you?
You also don’t have to explain.
You don’t have to respond to anyone.
Silence is allowed.
It’s all up to you. And Eight.
