Don’t Change that Channel

Hey, there, look at me--
instead of through what you see.
I'm trapped inside this box you watch
and yet you still don't blink.

Hypnotized, mesmerized by nothing
at all,
by the static's monotonous call—
by the writing on the wall.

You're plopping and flopping,
eating and drinking,
talking and bitching—
but you don't see me itching
to get out.
To tell, to shout.

white noise covers tears—
like little hands over ears.
hiding what you're lying,
you still live in fear.

Can you see what you did?
Do you see what you do?
Are you just evil—
through and through?

Don't change that channel.
You don't have a choice.
I'm stuck here—on fucked—
forever hearing this noise.

Until you figure it out,
I'm not getting out.
You can watch this on repeat
until your heart no longer has a beat
