In addition to talk therapy, the following resources have helped me. They may or may not work for you. I am not a therapist, doctor, healer, etc. I only am sharing things that worked for me. I do not earn any money from these. They are not affiliates.
CPTSD
Out of the Fog is full of knowledge about living with a dysfunctional family dynamic and dealing with people with personality disorders. I used the glossary and forum a lot in my beginning stages to help me get through some difficult times. I would just read the stories and have validation.
This CPTSD survivor website, Out of the Storm, is IT. It really helped me understand that what I endured wasn’t normal but also happened more frequently than I ever imagined. Sadly.
The CPTSD Godfather, Pete Walker, knows what he’s talking about and more. His steps to overcome an emotional flashback have a permanent place on my fridge.
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) provides useful material to those suffering from a layer of sexual trauma in the CPTSD journey.
Trauma
The Body Keeps the Score is the best healing book on this subject. It helped me more than any other. Bonus, it’s not that hard to get through either.
If you have a narcissistic mother or narcissistic mother-in-law or mother figure in your life, this book can really help you heal from that type of abuse.
I actually haven’t finished this book yet! Its exercises aided me on a journey early-on in my CPTSD path and I haven’t found my way back. Perhaps something in it will resonate with you and help you find your way as well.
Tarot, Witchcraft, Chakra Healing, and Crystals
Understanding Tarot by Cassie Uhl: I lucked out a used bookstore not too long ago and found a book that is perfect for any baby witch or any witch that likes to have everything tarot in one convenient place. She also has different books on crystals, the wheel of the year, chakras, and auras. This series moved to the top of my list immediately. The writing is such a good flow and it vibes really well.
Kim Krans: Early in my repressed memory healing, I came across a deck that used animals instead of people. With my autism and relational trauma, this deck really resonated with me. It’s still one of my favorite decks! She also has an animal spirit deck, an archetypes oracle, tarot meditations, and even a board game. Love this lady!
Seasons of the Witch Oracle: These oracle cards written with each turn of the wheel are pretty special.
Chakra Healing by Margarita Alcantara: This book really does help to align your body’s different centers to optimum levels of vibration so you can be your best self. It’s super easy to understand and follow, even for beginners.
EFT, Hypnosis, EMDR
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) can help you reset the amygdala in your brain so that triggers and emotions stop taking over your life. I’ve literally done thousands of tappings and they saved me in 2020-2022. I still use them to this day. They can stop me in the midst of a panic attack so I feel safe, loved, and calm when my body doesn’t.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is EFT but cranked up a million. It can be intense. Sometimes you might actually feel worse until you feel better as you rewire the way your trauma memories get organized into your brain. Ask a therapist before using if you feel you aren’t ready to process trauma memories on your own. There’s a therapist section as well.
Mama Zen hypnosis is EPIC. This is the game-changer along with Mindfulness Master that helped change the way I parent, calm myself down, and start and end my days in a positive way.
Meditation, Mindfulness, and Yoga with my kids
My kids and I use these cards together when I get triggered when they are having meltdowns. It really helps us work through some issues. I Command-stripped them to a wall on our kitchen island for easy access and choice.
We also have these meditation cards in our Calm Room. We’ve even started our own Mindfulness Master Meditations using cardstock and rounding out the corners so no sharp edges.
These are the yoga cards my kids picked out and they’re awesome!
